Happy Easter Yogi’s
The year has certainly galloped along. It feels like we have been fitting in everything previously restricted into such a short time. I don’t know about you but Im feeling ready to slow down and smell the roses. I have recorded a relaxation to help us all slow down and sleep well, you can access it here.
Classes
Pop ups are slowing down, but we have 5 weekly classes available locally through out the school term, and online classes remain a constant.
Events
Autumn Unwind sessions in Meeniyan and Leongatha, a retreat at the beautiful Wilsons Prom. Beginners workshops for those just starting out.
We are also hosting classes at the Bass Coast Yoga Festival, held in Inverloch May 7th and 8th.
And it’s already February!
We have been loving classes outdoors, stretching back to take in the blue sky and treetops gives us a feeling of the expansiveness we can be.
I enjoyed a beachside camping break, and a little city escape just in time before covid got us cancelling life again! Challenging time, but my new year intention is to let go of perfection and be ok with ‘what is”.
I have lots planned for us! And it could potentially be cancelled, but I believe that what I can share with you, will provide tools to get us through these challenging times, so I continue to follow my inspirations planning things to strengthen us and our community. (Any covid cancellations on events will be fully refunded)
Workshops and Events
A new workshop on breathing techniques will guide you through the how and why of pranayama.
Beginners Part 2 is all about ‘refining your practice” for comfort and confidence.
Running again is “‘Create a Home Practice” and “Beginners Workshop”.
R&R Sundays are a popular favorite that is held monthly, and I hope to make our “Hiking and Yoga Prom Picnic” a regular event too.

Classes
Face to face classes are held at MDU Cricket Club, Meeniyan Park, Voyage Fitness Leongatha and Leongatha Health Hub. Casual and term passes available, or zoom from anywhere, anytime!
Thank you
SPRING NEWS
As the sun stays higher in the sky, we embrace the beauty of springtime. As much as we are learning to live with uncertainty, this covid climate has worn a bit thin!
I am so grateful to have yoga in my life, it has been my one constant in this spinning world.
Classes and workshops have been cancelled and reshuffled, but I cannot sit idle. I know in my heart that Gita yoga is exactly what we need in these times.
Classes
We still have zoom, it’s only $20 a week to get 3 new classes via email and attend live when it suits.
Meeniyan weekly classes are regular, Relax and Restore 2 hour sessions are on Sundays once a month.
Voyage Fitness Leongatha welcomes casual students, and there are new classes coming in Leongatha.. Watch this space.
We will be at Sandy Point Surf Club for Melbourne Cup weekend, and pop up classes have started again in the park at Meeniyan.
Events
Wilsons Promontory retreats are held in Autumn and Spring each year.
In Meeniyan we have workshops for beginners, and another designed to get you inspired to practice at home.
Monthly favourites are R & R Sundays, a great way to re-set before a new week.
Sound healing and kinesiology are in the pipeline too!
Letting Go
When it all gets a bit much, movement and breath combine to help us let go of some baggage. Try this 20 minute sequence which works on specific energy centers to bring a sense of calm.
Thank You
Please take care, remembering that we can serve others best when we also nurture ourselves.

Turning Point WINTER NEWS
We can certainly enjoy all seasons here in Victoria, here I am at Mt Hotham, making the most of winter.
It’s easy to get a little slack with our yoga practice as the cold and dark draws in, but this is when we need it most! By continuing to practice we energise all body systems, maintaining good circulation and balance in our hormone production, which helps to keep everything functioning optimally.
Zoom classes continue all year round so you can stay warm at home. Classes in Meeniyan will extend to 3 per week, and I’m still at Voyage in Leongatha Thursday mornings.
Special events and workshops
We recently had our Autumn retreat at Wilsons Prom, for our first retreat I could not have asked for more, with superb weather and everyone feeling totally rejuvenated.
We have a ‘Winter solstice’ evening coming up, as well as a workshop to ‘create a home practice”.
Relax and Restore 2 hour yoga sessions will also be running monthly.
Yoga to You
Lately I have been visiting some workplaces and sporting teams, to provide a yoga practice tailored to their needs. What I have noticed most is this amazing energy shift, and the softening of peoples faces as we finish the class, I love to be able to share this practice with you.
TURNING POINT Autumn News
I do love this time of year. Crisp mornings and nights with some beautiful sunny days.
As the trees change and shed their leaves, we too can let go of our busyness. Summer fun winds down and we settle into routines. Autumn is a time of tacking stock, harvesting all the good things, and shedding what no longer serves us.
Many many leaves fallen here in the park in Meeniyan 2020
THANK YOU for all your support, I cant tell you how much I love being a yoga teacher. This year I am enjoying being back in face to face classes as well as online. I get excited to plan classes and workshops, and a retreat I went on recently left me dangerously inspired. Our Autumn retreat at the Prom is fully booked but stay tuned for the Spring retreat TBA.

Wilsons Promontory Retreats
Our Autumn retreat in May 2021 is fully booked but I am looking at options for spring.
Daily yoga, good food, walks in nature and opportunity for massage. Spending time with like-minded people always fills my cup. If a retreat at the Prom this spring interests you I will put you on the list of first notifications.
Yoga for Groups
Here we are doing a mindful warm up for the cricket juniors. Yoga can be a great addition to your sports program, and school curriculum.
In the workplace it can be tailored for your staff needs, whether that may be stress reduction, focus, or some basic stretches at the desk!
Thank you for reading this all the way to the end. I hope to see you on the mat soon, Jacki
Turning Point
Spring News
Dear Students,
Thank you so much for your support this term. This online venture has been a steep learning curve, just when you think all is going well something else plays up! I am so looking forward to seeing you in the flesh, but with things so unpredictable I will be staying online for now. Hopefully, we can do some outdoor pop up classes very soon.
Why Turning Point?
Starting Yoga was certainly a turning point in my life, at 25- yrs I was career driven and not mindful of stress relief. My exercise routine consisted of walking home from the pub and I fueled my body with convenient processed foods.
From my first class I began to think differently, I did not even realize my negative mindset until it began to shift. The process was gradual, I began to feel a whole lot more positive about work and life in general. I felt inspired to eat better and move more. I soon got addicted to the high feeling I experienced after a class and began to incorporate the learned movements and breathing techniques into my daily routine.
However, we are all a work in progress! I still stumble off the path, but yoga is the magic that helps me navigate what is important, and brings me back on the level.
The other inspiration for the name is my hometown location Meeniyan, which is known as ‘The Turning Point”, where we turn off the highway, to head toward Wilson’s Promontory and the beautiful surrounding coastline.
.
Autumn Retreat
I have booked a lodge at Wilson’s Prom for May 21st, 22nd 2021. Fingers crossed we will be all good for group gatherings by then. Imagine daily yoga, good food, walks in nature and even a massage. Spending time with like minded souls always fills my cup, and just a chance to relax and reflect is always good. SAVE THE DATE 😊
Spring Fever
How nice is it to feel the sunshine! I have been inspired in the garden, washing windows, and changing furniture around. There has certainly been more spring in my step lately, now to hold on to this motivation.
It is a good time to lighten up our food choices, choose some fresh juice or make a smoothie. Get creative with fancy salads and keep drinking water. Twisting postures help release toxins through the bloodstream, helping us to feel lighter and gain more clarity. You can even just do a few helicopter swings before you go somewhere in the car😊
Take a few cleansing breaths before you go to sleep. Inhale a full breath through your nose, then exhale through your mouth with a ssssss sound. This will slow down the out breath, allowing the carbon dioxide released to work as a natural relaxant; it is a great way to let go of the day.
The Bow Dhanurasana
The adrenals control our “flight/fight/freeze’ response. When they are overactive, we find ourselves living in ‘red alert” mode. Under-active functioning can lead to lethargy and lack of will power. Practicing “Bow Pose” balances our adrenal function.

Yoga to You
When Covid restrictions ease, I have plans of sharing more yoga within our community. This means visits to workplaces, schools and providing classes at your girl’s weekends or special events.
Have a think about your community circle and whether those you mix with could benefit. At this stage I am open to all ideas and suggestions, and would love to hear your thoughts.
Please join my socials and leave a review.
Thank you 💜
